I thought the morning sickness had passed me by. I was wrong. Very, very wrong. I'm certain that I don't have it as horribly as some who are puking their guts out on a daily basis. But it's still pretty darn miserable. Up until this weekend, I had mostly been extremely tired, and feeling a little queasy before and after meals. I had a couple of days where I felt pretty poorly all day. This weekend, however, full-on fatigue set in, along with nausea that is definitely showing me who's in charge. Today, constipation was replaced by constant trips to the toilet, keeping me home from work. I've hardly been able to force food down my throat. I have only been able to get up for short periods of time.
But don't get me wrong--I'm not complaining.
On Friday, the RE released me from his care. I called today to set up an appointment with the midwife I will be working with for the rest of my pregnancy. John and I are planning a natural hospital birth. In Virginia, a midwife can't actually deliver the baby in the hospital, so we'll also be working with a OB practice that the midwife works through. I have to go into the OB's office before seeing the midwife to become an established patient. So, my first prenatal appt is June 13th, and my first appointment with the midwife will be the week of July 10th.
It feels strange to be having my first real prenatal appointment at 10 weeks, and to not see the midwife until I'm in my 2nd trimester. I'm not sure if they will give me another ultrasound in conjunction with my first prenatal appointment, and I'm not sure right now whether I will ask for one if they don't offer it.
Also, the RE advised to stay on the progesterone until 12 weeks, and to stop the baby aspirin around the same time. Does this seem consistent with what you know? For some reason I thought I'd be on the baby aspirin a lot longer. I think I'm going to ask the midwife about continuing the progesterone until 16 weeks.
I haven't been able to get my scanned ultrasound pics to load on my computer, but if you want a peek, you can check out John's site.
I'm 8 weeks pregnant today. This kid is already kicking my butt.
Back to bed...
